The Performance series speakers were the penultimate product from MS. The range consisted of a Performance 2 stand-mount speaker, Performance 5 centre speaker, Performance 6 floor-stander, and Performance 9 subwoofer.
Owners enjoy an incredibly vivid and transparent rendition of their music, with an incredibly expansive and immersive soundstage.
This is achieved through the successful use of:
Sonically inert and beautifully sculpted resin enclosures employing seamless waveguides and subtle baffle shaping
Bespoke alloy cone and cast frame mid and bass drivers
MS's very special enclosure decoupled, floating aspirated tweeter - (ATT - a filtered dipole driver)
Quality metalized polyproline capacitors, and air-cored inductors in critical places in the crossover networks
The Performance 6 casts a huge, open baffle or electrostatic-speaker-like stage, with stage-left and stage-right often and convincingly well outside the speakers, due in part to the attention paid to their baffle shape, driver waveguides, the ATT tweeters and the whole system's interaction with rooms. Combined, these technologies and efforts ensure these speakers integrate very easily into listening spaces while delivering a magical performance.
When compared side by side with my previous Martin Logan Ethos ESLs, the Performance 6 deliver the amazing air, speed, and openness ESL users love, while also imaging and staging to an even more convincing level.
Being a more "traditional" speaker compared to ESLs, the Performance 6 is also much more forgiving of off-axis listening, and much easier to place in a room.
The Performance 9 subwoofer brings a deep, visceral element to owners' listening and blends incredibly well with the matching Performance 6 speakers. Many may argue ported subwoofers are not hi-fi enough for pure music listening. This sub convinced me otherwise and served to enhance all my music enjoyment. In fact, only a small fraction of my listening involves a video component.
It's no lightweight at 40kg.
It employs two horizontally opposed, force cancelling, alloy cone 10" woofers mounted in an internal steel frame, all in a ported enclosure. Twin 500w Class D amplifiers, analysing remote control, its active crossover, and filtering network ensure it integrates seamlessly with the speakers and the room whether priorities are music or movies.

The original retail on the speakers was between AU$9 and 10k. The sub was about $5k. The asking price therefore, represents excellent value, especially when these speakers do not drop the ball at all when compared to more current products from other manufacturers.
The asking price also gets the buyer some very nice, high value tweaks.
Included are a set of IsoAcoustics Gaia II footers on the Performance 6 (normally $1100 for a set of eight). Factory spikes are also included but these speakers really shine on the Gaias.
Rebuilt crossovers and complete cable loom replacement (as shown in the pics above). Mundorf Supreme EVO caps and a full Nordost cable loom now reside inside. This significantly improved on an already incredibly transparent sounding speaker. Improvements in dynamics and speed were NOT subtle. Cost of parts and labour for this project is near $2000 alone.

One tweeter recently suffered a knock from a visitor’s stray thumb. I managed to very gently pull it back out but this is why it looks a little dimpled (see pics). It is not cracked and it functions the same as the other (perfect) one in the other speaker. Four (4) spare, brand new tweeter dome foils are included in this sale, as are the factory tweeter grills
The speakers came tri-wireable from the factory. I changed them internally to be bi-wireable as I got fed up using jumpers or trying to find tri-wire cables. This actually gave sonic improvements anyway as the woofers are directly wired from the same posts as the mid.
I do not have boxes so pick up is preferred. For those keen interstate people however, I'm happy to assist somewhat if you lead on arrangements.
The Performance 6 are currently fitted with 100% wool felt baffle treatments of my own fabrication. This improved imaging again but can be removed easily by the buyer if they prefer the speakers "naked".
Demonstrations are available to vetted, serious buyers using vinyl, streaming and CD.
